Corrida Bulloise

This year, Terre des hommes (Tdh) was chosen as the charity partner of the Corrida Bulloise, which takes place yearly, in Bulle, Switzerland. The race was carried out on November 19, 2022 and comprised a stand where Tdh showcased the Gravit’eau handwashing stations – one of the technologies that is being implemented as part of the hands4health project.

The mobile handwashing stations comprise an automatic water recycling system that enables up to 100 people to wash their hands per hour, using an average of 2 mL per wash. The water must be changed once a month, and complex maintenance and cleaning is only required every 5-8 years. These handwashing stations are therefore especially suitable for remote locations with water shortages.

Paléo Festival

Earlier this year, Tdh participated in the Paléo Festival in Nyon, Switzerland, which took place from 19 to 24 of July 2022. At the venue, the Gravit’eau handwashing stations were showcased. Through puzzles and riddles, which included an escape game on the topic of water, festival-goers were able to discover and learn more about the key elements of the innovative handwashing stations. The goal was to raise awareness on the importance of access to water and good hygiene practices in remote areas of West Africa, where running water is scarce.

World Water Forum

In March 2022, the Gravit’eau handwashing systems were displayed at the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal. The event gathered political and economic decision-makers, multilateral institutions, academia, civil society and the private sector, who came together to promote dialogue and find solutions on the theme of ‘Water Security for Peace and Development’. The Gravit’eau stand showcased the foldable handwashing station, enabling visitors to learn how the system works and to get acquainted with the flexible designs available to different user groups.
