EPFL – Laboratory for Water Quality and Treatment (LTQE)
Background
The Laboratory for Water Quality and Treatment (LTQE) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) was established in January 2011.
LTQE carries out research in close collaboration with the von Gunten group at Eawag (Drinking Water Chemistry Group at Eawag).
Its research focuses mainly on oxidation and disinfection processes during the drinking water and wastewater treatment.
Relevant experiences
The expertise of the Laboratory for Water Quality and Treatment (LTQE) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) comprises oxidation and disinfection processes for water and wastewater treatment. It has a long record of kinetic and mechanistic laboratory studies and their upgrade to real water treatment systems. LTQE has a strong link to the drinking water sector in Switzerland and abroad, and is linked to Eawag’s Drinking Water Chemistry Group.
Role in the hands4health project
Water quality and treatment expertise. Assessment of disinfectant (chlorine, chloramine, peracetic acid, organic disinfectants) stability in handwashing waters. Passive release disinfection technology. Integration of the conventional and innovative disinfection with handwashing systems.
